At present, we encounter increasingly the task to use light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for illuminating industrial environments, public places, the automotive industry and households. In connection with this, there are questions about replacement of classic light bulbs by LED tubes and the idea that the exchange can handle every ordinary user. but there are some risks in terms of product safety. This paper deals with it.

In industrial plants, in case of fire there is accumulation of smoke that endangers the user object. Under these conditions the building must be opened to the smoke can ventilate out into the atmosphere, and that firefighters could enter the building. However, this opening causes the new oxygen support combustion. It is also one of the reasons why firefighters recommend the use fire damper with automatic controls and other devices (eg, smoke curtains, screens, blinds, etc.) as soon as possible after the beginning of fire, so as to prevent any accumulation, and that remove heat and smoke. This paper deals with the equipment for smoke and heat outlet.

Passive houses reduce the need for heating to compensate the heat loss through the building facade and ventilation. But at the same time it increases consumption of the auxiliary energy for circulation pumps and fans. The analytical result can be for many readers quite surprising.

Paper describes an overview of control systems and input/output modules used for modern building control. Basic examples are briefly mentioned and recommendations for different applications indicates usage of control systems in building automation. The paper also describes an overview of protocols used for communication between different components of control systems.

Projects of the International Energy Agency show that use energy more efficiently has a greater potential to reduce CO2 over the next 20 years than all other options combined. The main objectives of intelligent networks are improving the efficiency, reliability, safety and environmental sustainability.

Article gives an overview of support for electricity generation from biogas in the European countries and a comparison of purchase prices in selected countries. Purchase prices in the Czech Republic are comparable with other European countries. After the abolition of capital grants, a significant reduction of the interest of investors can be expected.

Z1 Change of the standard ČSN 73 0580-1 Daylighting in buildings - Part 1: Basic Requierements was issued in January of this year. The standard itself is valid since June 2007. Z1 Change does not bring major changes, however, it specifies the text of some articles, especially the methodology of the assessment of shielding with regard to shielding by the constructions of the same building.

Article is based on the book "Regulating the practice or how I'm doing." Programming of the control system is described in a logical sequence so as to be applicable to various systems. The intention was to create a "helper in his pocket" for designers, programmers, and assembly techniques of measurement and control.

Coloured photovoltaic cells are occasionally used in architectural applications. Their wider utilisation is currently limited by the lower efficiency compared to cells with an optimal anti-reflective coating. Research is focused on desing and manufacturing of anti-reflective coating, which besides of required color will have minimised the reflection in the infrared.

Author raises discussion and proposed changes in the rules of the energy audit. Draws attention to the criteria for evaluating alternatives and to small requirements for variability solutions. Read controversy of the author and reviewer who considers the methodology as sufficient and sees a problem in processing audits.

Protection against lightning is something other than a lightning conductor. Lightning conductor is for capturing a flash, for safely the grounding system. It is for the prevent injury of people and protection against fire house. If it is all what we will do, we can say goodbye to all the electronics.

The directive 2010/31/EU on the Energy Performance of Buildings – called EPB, EPBD II or EPBD Recast – was passed last May. EU member countries are obliged to implement these new requirements into their national legislations. The implementation of 2010/31/EU was addressed by a number of seminars during the recent Aqua-therm 2010 trade fair. The following article presents you with the most important facts from the presentations and with links to information that was published before and during Aqua-Therm 2010.
